Over the past two weeks, the football team has suffered losses to two of the top squads in Region 5-AAAAA. On Oct. 24, Etowah came into the game against the Eagles fresh off a 40-13 rout of Marietta. South Cobb would fare much better than its Cobb counterpart, but still fell by the score of 35-19. The defense scored twice in the loss, returning both an errant pitch and a blocked punt for touchdowns. Last Friday against Woodstock, the Eagles hung around with the fourth-place Wolverines before falling, 22-11. The Eagles pulled to within four points in the third quarter, as quarterback Chris Awuah dashed 90 yards for a touchdown to make the score 15-11. Woodstock would add a touchdown in the fourth quarter, however, to ice the game. South Cobb will play its final regular season game this Friday at home against North Cobb. … The cross country teams competed in the Region 5-AAAAA championships at Harrison last Wednesday. Zachary Stines was the top finisher for the boys squad, registering a time of 19:08.31. On the girls side, Laura Hughey paced the Lady Eagles with a time of 23:03.
