Eagles shut out McEachern, face Kennesaw Mtn. next

The football team was back in action last week after having the previous week off. The Eagles took on a McEachern team that was looking for its first win of the season. The Eagles got the scoring started early in the first quarter, as Justin Blosser recovered a 13-yard fumble and returned it for a touchdown, and Ishmael White had a 9-yard touchdown run to put Etowah up by 14. That was more than enough for the Eagles, as the defense did not give up a single point and Etowah went on to win 14-0. Ryan Boykin had another strong game with 77 yards on 17 carries. The Eagles will be at Kennesaw Mountain on Friday at 7:30 p.m. … The softball team picked up a big win last week as they beat the No. 8-ranked Lassiter Trojans 1-0. Kelsey Hodgen drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the fourth and pitcher Rachel Schmelzer did the rest, pitching a three-hit shutout. The team will play South Paulding on Wednesday. … The volleyball team will play against South Paulding, South Cobb and Hillgrove on Thursday.
