Eagles knock off county rival, 24-19

The football team played against Campbell on Friday and it was the battle of the new coaches, as the Eagles featured Ed Koester, while Shawn Campbell led the Spartans. Campbell’s offense started the scoring when Josh Bolden had a 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Eagles responded in the second quarter, however, with a Chris Awuah 7-yard touchdown run and a Jeremiah Whiting 5-yard touchdown run to go up by seven. That was enough to give the Eagles the 24-19 victory and it gave Koester his first win as the Eagles’ head coach. The Eagles played disciplined football throughout, committing only seven penalties. They were also able to move the ball, tallying 295 total yards of offense. They will face Kennesaw Mountain on Friday. … The softball team is off to a great start, as the Lady Eagles have won their first three games of the season. The Lady Eagles will face Cherokee on Wednesday and Harrison on Thursday. … The volleyball team struggled last week, falling to both Campbell and Etowah. The team will face Whitefield Academy on Saturday.
