Football team remains unbeaten, clinches top spot in subregion

After handling Columbia by a 45-12 score on Oct. 17, the Wildcats faced a major challenge against an athletic McNair football team last Friday. Their Region 5-AAA opponent gave them all they could handle in the first half, battling the ‘Cats to a 7-7 tie after one half of play. With its undefeated record on the line, Dunwoody took over behind running back Treavor Scales. Scales scored on runs of 42, 53 and 39 yards in the final two quarters to help lead his team to a 34-13 win and an 8-0 record. The Wildcats face Druid Hills next week to close the season; they have already clinched the 5A-AAA subregion title. … Both cross country teams ran at the Last Chance Invitational last Saturday. The boys finished third overall in Class 3A as Alex Ausley finished sixth with a time of 17:08. The girls were sixth behind Charlotte Collins’s seventh-place finish (21:08). The Wildcats now gear up for the Region 5-AAA Championships on Friday at Mercer University. The Class 3A State Meet is Nov. 8.
