Cedar Grove High School announced Friday morning that they have hired Roderick Moore as the school’s new head football coach.
Moore replaces former Cedar Grove head coach John Adams, who resigned earlier this month to join the new coaching staff at Georgia State, led by Dell McGee. Adams accepted a role as a defensive assistant for the Panthers.
The Cedar Grove Saints are coming off of a Class 3A state championship last season as they defeated Savannah Christian by three touchdowns in the state championship. The Saints also took home their 10th region championship as well.
Moore has been a head coach twice in his career as he has had eight years of Georgia high school football head coaching experience. In his eight years as a head coach, Moore has made stints at both McNair (2005-2008) and Redan High School (2014-2017) where he spent four years at each school.
As a head coach, Moore has made the state playoffs on three occasions all with the McNair Mustangs. In those three times making the playoffs, he made them three years in a row from 2005-2007. The farthest one of his teams went was to the second round in 2006 where they were defeated by North Hall.
Moore holds a combined record of 38-46 while competing in both Class 3A and 4A and looks to keep Cedar Grove as the dominant school they have been the past couple years.
Since 2015, the Cedar Grove football program has won seven regional championships and five state championships, most recently winning one last season. The Saints will look to continue their Dominance in Class 3A with Moore at the helm next season for his first season as a head coach in seven years.
