Daily Dive: Travis Hunter adds more highlights to career resume

Travis Hunter could almost certainly be an elite competitor in many different sports, but as he displayed last night in Colorado’s season opener, he was destined to star on the gridiron. It is rare for a football player to possess such athleticism or skills that in a single play they can etch a memory that tens of thousands of fans will never forget, but Hunter has that ability and he has since his prep football days. When I am asked about how Hunter was in high school, I think back to the few times I saw him play in person and I describe him as follows: I have never seen a player that was so motivated to be the best in the world.

Thursday night, Hunter hauled in three receiving touchdowns in Colorado’s win over North Dakota State and had seven catches for 132 yards. Hunter did this while racking up three tackles in the secondary. Having three or more receiving touchdowns in a game is something Hunter did four different times as a junior on Collins Hill when he became a household name. There is no doubt that he is going to be a first ballot High School Football Hall of Famer one day and I am looking forward to seeing him continue to add unforgettable plays to a highlight tape that dates back to his days starring for the Eagles.
