Daily Dive: GACA releases 2024 All-State Selections

The Georgia Athletic Coaches Association released its 2024 all-state teams this week. Each classification is sub-divided between Regions 1-4 and Regions 5-8 with separate offense and defensive teams and a Coach of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year that was selected to represent each classification.  In Class 6A, Grayson’s Santavious Bryant was named Coach of the Year. All seven GHSA coaches selected were state champions this season with Milton’s Ben Reaves (5A), North Oconee’s Tyler Aurandt (4A), Calhoun’s Clay Stephenson (3A), Carver-Columbus’ Pierre Coffey (2A), Toombs County’s Buddy Martin (A Div. I) and Bowdon’s Rich Findley (A Div. II) also earning coach of the year. Coach Coffey earned the Class 2A title over Hebron Christian head coach Jonathan Gess, who led Hebron Christian to the Class A-3A Private state title while competing out of Class 2A this season. Coach Gess—in his third season with the Golden Lions earned the Gwinnett Daily Post’s All-County Coach of the Year—besting Grayson’s Bryant—who also won a state title out of Gwinnett County this year.

The Offensive player of the year winners were Carrollton’s Julian Lewis and North Gwinnett’s Ryan Hall in 6A, Lee County’s Ousmane Kromah and Milton’s Luke Nickel in 5A, Creekside’s Cayden Benson and North Oconee’s Harrison Faulkner in 4A, Peach County’s DJ Hudson and Jefferson’s Gavin Markey in 3A, Carver-Columbus’ Jokobe Caslin and Prince Avenue Christian’s Andrew Beard in Class 2A, Toombs County’s TJ Stanley and Chattooga’s Zayden Cook in Class A Div. I and Miller County’s JP Powell and Manchester’s Darrius Favors in Class A Div. II. In the GIAA All-State team, Brentwood’s Adam Lord was named Coach of the Year and Bulloch Academy’s Shamar Jenkins received Offensive Player of the Year.
