Daily Dive: 10 former Georgia high school football players prepare for 2025 Senior Bowl

NFL draft hopefuls will aim to boost their stock on Saturday in the 76th edition of the prestigious Senior Bowl and there are plenty of former Georgia High School football products that will be competing in the annual all-star showcase. This year’s game will take place at the University of South Alabama’s Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala. Kickoff will be at 2:30 p.m. and the action will be televised live on the NFL Network. Cleveland Browns assistant head coach Bubba Ventrone (American team) and New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka (National team) will serve as head coaches in this year’s showcase and all 32 NFL teams will have scouts and draft experts following the action.

In 2024, the Senior Bowl featured former Georgia standouts like Kimani Vidal (Troy, Marietta), DJ Bertrand (Notre Dame, Blessed Trinity), Daijun Edwards (Georgia, Colquitt County), Javon Baker (UCF, McEachern) and Ladd McConkey (Georgia, North Murray).

This year has an even bigger group of former Peach State standouts with 10 total to watch for. On the American roster will be seven of the 10 guys, including former Arabia Mountain Ram and cornerback Brandon Adams (UCF), Riverwood edge rusher Kyle Kennard (South Carolina), North Gwinnett edge rusher Jared Ivey (Ole Miss), Hillgrove wide receiver Jalen Royals (Utah State), Strong Rock Christian linebacker Demetrius Knight II (South Carolina), Paulding County linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. (Georgia), North Hall defensive back Dan Jackson (North Hall). For the National roster, former Carver-Atlanta running back Jo’Quavious Marks (USC) will be joined by Alpharetta long snapper William Wagner (Michigan) and Colquitt County kicker Ryan Fitzgerald (Florida State).

Already, Royals has been standing out at practice ahead of Saturday’s kickoff—and is being considered one of the most sought-after value players heading into this year’s NFL Draft. Royals has one of the greatest opportunities to boost his draft stock on Saturday and is one of the better receivers at producing yards after the coach and has a big opportunity after an abbreviated 2024 campaign. Before his season-ending foot injury in October, Royals had hauled in 55 catches for 834 yards in just seven games. He had a reception of 30 or more yards in four of his games and six touchdowns in the seven-game span.
