Cougars downed by Parkview, host Collins Hill

Bad luck and bad timing hurt the football team Friday night when it took on a Parkview team that was set on eliminating the mistakes it made in its opening loss to Collins Hill. From the beginning it was apparent the defenses would play a major role in the outcome of the game.

Again, Chattahoochee struggled to stop the run, allowing 394 yards on the ground throughout the night. Quarterback Brendan Cross made good decisions and threw no interceptions, but Parkview’s defense was too much, forcing 13 incompletions. Cross ended the game 16-for-29 with one touchdown pass to Hunter Cross. It wasn’t enough, however, as the Cougars lost 49-12. The team hosts Collins Hill on Friday and the game will be broadcast live on 790 The Zone. … The softball team fell to Duluth 10-2 in its final game before a trip to Cordele for the Watermelon Invitational. Errors in the field cost the Lady Cougars a lead in the first inning and contributed to an early seven-run hole. Meghan Whipple struck out three in the circle and went 2-for-3 at the plate in the loss.
