When you walk into The Corner Bar and Grille in Dunwoody, you immediately sense the blues atmosphere and Cajun feel. The best part about this tucked-away bar is the array of talented blues musicians that it boasts every Tuesday through Saturday night. Some of the well-known players that make frequent appearances at the bar are Grammy award-winner Beverly Guiter, 2007 Best New Blues Album artist Albert White, Eddie Tigner, Tommy Brown, Mudcat, and Big Biscuit, among others. The atmosphere that the music creates is undeniable.
“It’s not uncommon for the guys to gather together on any given night and have a jam session,” says owner Sheri O’Halloran.
Sheri’s husband, Martin O’Halloran, purchased the bar when it was called CB South; it will now change names again next week to Mudcats. Some of the other changes are a whole new interior, a top chef from Cordon Bleu, as well as a full-scale menu, chock full of Cajun and seafood delights. Some of the items include New Orleans Gumbo, raw oysters, crawfish, jambalaya, king crab, snow crab and shrimp and grits. You can also find some of the most inexpensive drinks in town. For $6.50 and under, you can have pretty much any drink that you can think of. All of the food is made from scratch by top chef Scott Innis.
Other fun aspects to the bar include televisions everywhere you look, with every imaginable sports package available. For you gamers out there, this bar is one of very few that have a Wii that is played on a 73-inch screen. Golden Tee 2009 is another fun game that most everyone has enjoyed. Monday provides team trivia night, where a prize of $100 in Mudcat bucks is up for grabs. The restaurant is also open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyday. Corner Bar and Grill, soon to be renamed Mudcats, combines a spice of food and talent that adds up to a fantastic time for everyone.
