McFerrin returns, Moody out at UGA and competition for Capel

A Georgia high school coaching legend is returning to the sidelines this upcoming season as T McFerrin will be named coach at Jefferson. McFerrin coached David Greene at South Gwinnett High School before Greene matriculated to the University of Georgia.

Just one day after the University of Georgia rescinded the scholarship offer to its top LB signee Dexter Moody, the AJC’s Michael Carvell tried to catch up with head coach Mark Richt to ask about his policy for situations like this.

Finally, it looks like Georgia’s AD Damon Evans will have some more competition for one of his targets as he seeks a replacement for fired basketball coach Dennis Felton. University of Virginia men’s basketball coach Dave Leitao resigned over the weekend and it is believed that UVA is after Oklahoma’s Jeff Capel. Capel’s career began at Virginia Commonwealth University and his father coached at Old Dominion University.
