Commerce to build $9 million “multi-level fieldhouse” in preparation for 2025 football season

The Commerce Tigers football program is in for a series of changes in 2025.

Coming off of a second round appearance in the Class A-Division I state playoffs last year, Commerce and former head coach Mark Hollars parted ways, clearing the position for new head coach, Lenny Gregory.

Gregory, a two-time Region 8-7A champion with Collins Hill as well as state champion with the Eagles in 2021 led by 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, will be inheriting some changes in his new role coaching at Commerce.

One of the major changes the school has announced is that they will be building a $9 million multi-level fieldhouse that will have a number of uses for the Commerce athletic program.

The fieldhouse will include an indoor practice facility, a state-of-the-art weight room, team room, breakout rooms for positional meetings, as well as two terraces for the Commerce Touchdown Club members.

“I don’t know if you guys have ever been to Commerce, GA, it’s historic, it’s special and people love football in Commerce,” said Gregory on Thursday morning in an interview on Georgia High School Sports Daily.

The fieldhouse will be located near Ray Lamb Stadium, but will be open to use for all Commerce athletes.

“What is great about being at a smaller school is that all of your athletes play all of the sports, so having it available to everyone makes a lot of sense for us,” Gregory added.

Along with the new fieldhouse, the program has also hired two full-time strength and conditioning coaches that will be “sports specific.”

The fieldhouse was approved during last football season, before the hiring of Gregory as Commerce High School will open their new state-of-the-art facility in August, before the 2025 high school football season kicks off.

The school has shown they are dedicated to making a huge investment in improving their student-athletes and the school’s facilities.

“The greatest resource at any school is the students,” said Gregory.
