Commerce High School announced on Monday morning that former Collins Hill and current Gordon Central head coach, Lenny Gregory is taking over the Tigers football program, starting with the 2025 season.
Gregory has been a head coach in the state of Georgia since 2015 and has made stops at Centennial, Collins Hill and Gordon Central before most recently accepting the same role at Commerce.
The Commerce Tigers recently parted ways with former head coach Mark Hollars after he led the program for four seasons, having a 31-16 record at the helm.
In his 10 seasons, Gregory holds a record of 63-53 as a high school football head coach in Georgia, most notably going 15-1 and winning the 2021 Class 7A State Championship with Collins Hill as the Eagles were led by Gregory and the top overall recruit in the country, now Heisman trophy winner, Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
The Eagles recorded a perfect 15-0 record including a state championship victory to cap off a 15-game win-streak before losing to Graham Kapowsin (WA) in the National High School Football Playoffs a week later, giving them their only blemish on a championship season.
Gregory spent two years at Centennial from 2015-2016 before spending the next six seasons at Collins Hill. With Centennial, Gregory recorded a 13-8 record, making the playoffs in his second season.
While at Collins Hill, Gregory made the postseason every year but his final season with the Eagles, a year after the team’s state championship victory.
Following his time at Collins Hill, Gregory then became the head coach at Gordon Central for the Warriors where he spent two seasons before recently accepting the job with the Tigers.
Gregory is taking over a Commerce program that is coming off of an 8-4 record, reaching the second round of the postseason for the second-straight season.
The Commerce Tigers have made the postseason for last 28 seasons and expect a 29th when the Lenny Gregory-era kicks off next season.
