Chiefs move to 3-0 with 28-6 win over Hillgrove

The football team dominated Hillgrove last week, winning 28-6. The Chiefs’ defense held Hillgrove quarterback Synjin Days to only 35 yards. After the game, head coach Sid Maxwell had this to say: “The defense did a good job. Days is the catalyst of their team, and our defense kept him in check at all times.” The offense also had a great game, moving the ball well both on the ground and through the air. “We played solid football in all three facets of the game,” Maxwell said. Tailback Domonique Swop led the offense with three touchdowns, the highlight coming on a 60-yard dash for a score. Brandon Alexander added another touchdown after a blocked punt by defensive end Seth Grammar. The Chiefs are off this Friday, but will return Sept. 26 to face off against Rome (2-1). … The softball team beat Woodland-Bartow 1-0 last Thursday. The Chiefs head to Woodstock this Friday (12 p.m.) … The volleyball team beat Cass 2-0 (25-18, 25-10), and lost to Northwest Whitfield 2-0 (25-21, 25-16) last Wednesday. The Chiefs are now second in their area, and will host Woodland-Bartow on Tuesday for Senior Night.
