Chiefs edge Creekview, volleyball to host Challenge

In the team’s first-ever game with Creekview, the football team defeated the Grizzlies in thrilling fashion last Friday, 35-34. A blocked extra point by defensive back Matt Thompson was the difference. The blocked PAT, which would have tied the game and sent it into a third overtime, came after a Collins Wold-to-Jason Wright touchdown pass. The Chiefs would shine on special teams all night, as Dominique Swoop went 49 yards for a touchdown on a punt in the second quarter, and Tyler Adams blocked Creekview’s first punt of the night. Running back Dalton Trevino had two touchdowns on the evening. The Chiefs are 2-0 on the season, and host Hillgrove (1-1) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. … The 11-5 volleyball team is gearing up to host a section of the VolleyPerformance Varsity Georgia Challenge on Saturday. The other tournament sites are Cherokee, Etowah and Woodstock. Sequoyah’s pool will feature Roswell, Ringgold and East Coweta. Play starts at 9 a.m. For Kelly Audia’s squad, Tori O’Brien and Kelly Yeomans are the only two seniors, and also the top scorers.
