Calhoun racks up the yards in win over North Springs

The football team, coming off a bye week, trounced North Springs 49-7 last weekend in a Region 6-AAAA contest. Drayton Calhoun had 171 yards on just three carries for Tucker (5-1, 4-1). The Tigers will clash with rival Chamblee (4-2, 3-2) on Friday night. … The volleyball team posted a solid 3-3 record from the beginning of the AmPest Spike Fest at Heritage-Rockdale (Sept. 26-28) up to last weekend’s region tournament. The first victory came against Fayette County in two straight games on Sept. 30, and Tucker carried that momentum into a 2-0 win over Miller Grove and a 2-1 triumph over Forsyth Central, both of which occurred on Sept. 30. Tucker, however, ran into top-seeded Marist-undefeated in Area 6-AAAA play-in the first round of the area tournament last Saturday, and fell in two straight games. … The softball team concluded its season with a 16-0 loss to Marist on Oct. 1. Marist went on to win the region tournament as the No. 1 seed. … The cross country team competes at Shamrock Middle School’s Dekalb County Championships on Wednesday.
