Bulldogs stifle North Springs offense, pitch a shutout

Coming off a 43-14 victory over Class 5A’s Douglass in the season opener, the football team had another big win last Thursday, this time over North Springs in a 41-0 shutout. The Bulldogs led 34-0 with four minutes remaining in the third quarter before the JV team came in to see some on-field time. The game was played on Thursday because North Springs shares a stadium with Riverwood, who played on Friday night. Chamblee returns home this Friday to face off against Marist at 7:30 p.m. … The boys cross country team had a great showing at last Saturday’s Rock Ranch Invitational, placing third out of 22 teams. Alex Coble was the school’s top finisher, coming in fifth overall with a time of 17:41.20. The girls placed 11th overall at the Invitational and Lydia Morrow was the school’s top finisher (18th overall) with a time of 23:24.02. … After starting with a 4-9 record, the volleyball team has won four of its last five matches at press time. Most recently, Chamblee took out Peachtree Ridge and Dunwoody last Thursday, each by scores of 2-0.
