Bulldogs shut out Lithonia, travel to Lakeside

Entering last Friday’s game with a 2-1 record, the football team earned its third victory of the year in a 34-0 rout of Lithonia. According to head coach Michael Collins, the defensive line has shown considerable improvement along with the offense, which was one of Collins’s major concerns after a 14-13 loss against Marist two weeks ago. Senior quarterback Warren Norman and senior running back Dakarai Penn have led Chamblee all year and did so again on Friday. As for this Friday, the Bulldogs travel to North DeKalb Stadium to take on 0-4 Lakeside. The game will be Chamblee’s second against a Region 6-AAAA opponent this year. … The softball team fell hard twice last week, losing 8-0 to Forsyth Central and again by the same score to Marist. The team has Wednesday and Thursday dates with Tucker and Lakeside, respectively. … Junior Alex Coble led the boys cross country team with a third-place finish at the second DeKalb County meet on Sept. 16 with a time of 18:03.56. Freshman David Coble placed fourth, and the team finished second.
