Bulldogs defeat Lithonia, face Panthers next

In a real dogfight last Friday night, the Forsyth Central Bulldogs downed the Lithonia Bulldogs 28-14 in the football team’s home opener. Central moved the ball well on the ground, earning 329 rushing yards and averaging over six yards per carry. Quarterback Dustin Canon scored three touchdowns on his own in leading the Bulldogs to the Region 6-AAAA win. Forsyth Central (1-1) will take on Southwest DeKalb at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Hallford Stadium. … Despite a 3-10 start, volleyball head coach Chuck Adams is pleased with his team’s improvements from last year. He is looking forward to the opportunity to gauge how far his team has come at this weekend’s tournament at Collins Hill, saying, “I believe the next few games will show us a new direction in our commitment and determination to win.” … Competition cheerleading will get underway with a season opener this Saturday at Dawson County at 1 p.m. Head coach Elaine Bowden graduated half of her team last year and will enter this year with a 21-athlete team featuring 13 girls and eight boys.
