Buford dominated the XOXO Gymnastics Meet, winning all four events and placing second in three of them. The Wolves are currently the top-ranked team in the 5A-6A classification, according to GHSA rankings, edging out fellow championship contender West Forsyth with scores of 104.992 to 104.133. Buford entered the competition following a strong season opener, where they finished as the top team in their class and second overall at the Winter Kickoff Meet.
The XOXO Meet was highlighted by a stellar performance from Wolves gymnast Johanna Sasser, who won all four events. Her gold medals on Floor, Beam, Vault, and Bars easily secured her the All-Around gold, as no other competitor won more than one silver.
Buford also claimed three silver medals, with Bellarae Newby placing second on beam, Madi Sounthonethip earning silver on Bars, and Vidya Bharadwaj finishing second on Vault. With seven total event medals, the Wolves posted an extraordinary winning percentage, securing 100% of the golds, 87.5% of the combined gold and silver medals, and 58.4% of all medals awarded. The Wolves’ next meet is scheduled for April 3 at Lovett High School.
