The weather forced many teams to restructure their weeks, delaying countless region openers and requiring some teams to set up tricky travel arrangements down the line. Teams across the state were able to get out Tuesday and Wednesday for some fierce region and non-region games. Carrollton faced Hillgrove Wednesday and the Trojans jumped out to a 9-1 lead before Hillgrove mounted a rally in the seventh inning. The Hawks tallied four runs on three hits, three walks and a pair of Carrollton errors before Carrollton was able to escape a bases-loaded jam to end the game. Will Hersterlee was 2-for-2 and reached base four total times. He also stole three bases, scored two runs and drove in one run. … Despite two hits from Austin Meadows and an early 4-0 lead, Grayson could only watch as Brookwood scored seven runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-5 decision at the Dave Hunter Complex in Snellville. Alvaro Castillo notched a three-run double to key the comeback victory. … Greater Atlanta Christian extended the rough start to the season for Providence Christian with a 7-4 win Wednesday. The Spartans scored four runs in the top of the seventh to snag the victory. Ross Wood had three hits while Jackson O’Brien provided two hits and two RBIs. … Lanier earned a region win over Monroe Area Wednesday with a 4-1 victory. Kameron Doster went the distance for the Longhorns, striking out seven. Blake Forte and Trenton Little each collected two hits. … Dylan Brown tossed a five-inning no-hitter in Dacula’s 12-0 victory over Berkmar. Josh Bullock provided plenty of support for Brown with four runs batted in. … Buford stomped region foe Fannin County 14-0 in five innings as Jake Higginbotham struck out eight batters in just four innings of work. … North Hall remained undefeated in Region 7-AAA competition and handed Dawson County its first region loss of the year in a 12-1 win Wednesday. North Hall received 13 strikeouts from Preston Graham on the mound and a three-run home run from him at the plate. … Finally, Cartersville was able to hold Collins Hill to one hit in a 3-0 home victory.
