The boys cross country team, led by Tyler Anyan, won the Carrollton Invitational. Anyan finished third in the event, just seconds ahead of teammate Michael Sexton, and was named Runner of the Week by the Gwinnett County Cross Country Coaches. The team is ranked No. 1 in the state in the GaSports.com Coaches Poll. … The softball team has won two-straight games with victories over North Gwinnett and South Gwinnett. In the win over North, Brandi Jones picked up the save with four scoreless innings while providing a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Against South, Jones contributed two RBIs in the win. Jessica Neidigh scored three runs in the South game and Kelli Brewer had two RBIs in the 12-2 win. … Meanwhile, the volleyball team beat Berkmar and Central Gwinnett to earn its first two Area 8-AAAAA wins. Melanie Thompson had 10 aces in the two games. … The football team was off last week and will travel to Berkmar this Friday. Brice Smith should be ready to go this week after leading the Bronco rushing attack in the Sept. 12 win over Shiloh.
