BLUELAND BEAT: Thrashers defeat Rangers, 3-2

PHILIPS ARENA – The Thrashers defeat New York tonight to draw to within two of the seventh-place Rangers. Evander Kane scored two goals, including the game-tying and game-winning goals. New York led for much of the third after scoring just 1:11 into the period.

- Eric Boulton just beat up Brandon Prust of the Rangers. It was a one-sided fight. Prust went to the locker room after the fight. Still scoreless eight minutes into the game…

-Anthony Stewart just scored for Atlanta. 1-0 Thrash at the 8:52 mark.

-Thrash up 1-0 after one period.

-Marc Staal scores for NY, to make it 1-1. One minute into the second…

-End of the 2nd, still 1-1.

-Third period getting started. Thrashers lead in shots at 23-22. They better shoot less or they may lose!

-And just like that, New York scores again in the opening moments of the period. Brandon Dubinsky scores for New York. 2-1, Rangers.

-Pavelec saves penalty shot from New York’s Gaborik. Sopel was called for hooking when Gaborik had a breakaway…

-Evander Kane just tied it with a backhand in front of the net. Odd play, took the crowd a couple seconds to realize it was a goal. 15th goal of the year for Mr. Kane. Stewart got the assist, as did Hainsey.

-Kane again, and the Thrashers lead! 54.1 left, dual penalties. 4-on-4.
