The football team enjoyed a 28-3 win over South Cobb on Oct. 10. The win was the team’s third of the season and snapped a three-game losing streak. The team was defeated 40-13 by Etowah this past Friday. Marietta now sits second to last in Region 5-AAAAA going into Friday’s game at North Cobb. … The volleyball team (21-25) went 3-2 in the Area 5-AAAAA playoffs, as the Lady Devils defeated East Paulding once and North Cobb twice. The team will face No. 2-ranked Northview this Thursday in the state playoffs. … The softball team saw their regular season end with losses to East Paulding and Woodstock. The team finished with a 3-22 record. … The boys cross country team won the Wesleyan Invitational on Oct. 18. The team was paced by Obiandu Igwe, who finished fourth overall. Mark Hirons and Andrew Nelson also finished in the top 10, at fifth and seventh, respectively. The girls squad finished second at the same meet. Maggie Henderson led the team with a sixth-place finish. Andreina Salas finished eighth while Katarine Hall came in at 11th.
