Blue Devils take down #3 softball in 1-0 thriller

The softball team scored a major upset en route to a 2-0 start in Region 7-AAAAA play. Alexander Foulke allowed three hits while striking out eight batters as the Blue Devils scraped by GACA Coaches Poll’s No. 3 Collins Hill 1-0. While Foulke limited Collins Hill at the plate, Heidi Sharpe did her part for Norcross, going 3-for-3 with a triple and a double. Sharpe was also the hero when Norcross met up with South Gwinnett. Her three RBIs sparked the Blue Devils to a 3-0 win as Foulke pitched a shutout. Lauren Purvis had two hits in the game. … The volleyball team reached No. 9 in the GACA Coaches Poll, but suffered a setback to a higher-ranked team. No. 4 Walton took down the Blue Devils 2-0 (25-15, 25-20), but Norcross bounced back with a win over Milton. Rachel Monteagudo continued her hot year with 36 assists. Anjelica Wilcox had four aces and Tiffany Clarke contributed with 16 kills. … Football standout Prince Kent has accepted an invitation to play in the 2009 Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 4, 2009. The football team will return to action Friday, hosting Mill Creek at 7:30 p.m.
