Black Knights win two in a row, will face Grayson in finale

Anyone who might have doubted Diante Drake’s importance to the football team can look to Central Gwinnett’s 37-0 destruction of Berkmar on Oct. 24. The dynamic running back scored on his first touch, a 48-yard scamper on Central’s first play of the game. Drake continued to eat up yards all evening, ending his rampage with 200 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. Central’s defense posted its first shutout of the season, while the offense had its highest point total of the 2008 campaign. Halloween Night brought a 35-9 victory over Meadowcreek, bringing the Black Knights’ record to 3-6 on the season. In the win, Drake added two more touchdown runs to his season total. Malcolm Moulton added a 15-yard score in the second quarter and Matt Huber caught Jordan Adams’ only touchdown toss in the same frame. The defense had another good game going into next week’s clash with undefeated Grayson, as the Black Knights will try to play spoiler in their season finale.
