Big-play running backs score twice in 13-point victory over N. Atlanta

A 34-14 win over North Atlanta helped the football team to move to 2-1 on the season. Despite the margin of victory, head coach Kevin Latham said North Atlanta played hard. “They’re organized, they’re tough [and] they get after you,” Latham said. “We broke a couple of long plays. That was the difference in the game.” Columbia jumped out to a 27-14 lead thanks to touchdowns by running backs Nathaniel Anthony and Brian Holloway. Linebacker Darrick Walker and the Eagles defense made several good plays to stop North Atlanta rallies. Columbia will next play Cedar Grove on Friday. … After losing to Cedar Grove 17-5, the softball team looked to get its second win of the season against Clarkston. That did not happen, but the Eagles did not lose either. The game was stopped because of darkness with the score tied 17-17. If either team is in position to make the Region 5-AAA Tournament, the game will be made up on Nov. 1. Analisha Chaney went 3-for-4 with two doubles and Bj Shaw went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple.
