Region games highlighted the basketball action across the state on Tuesday and here is a look at what took place.
Dawson County’s girls, ranked No. 4 in Class AAA, moved to 11-6 on the season and 5-1 in 7-AAA after a 63-40 victory over East Hall. Dawson led 25-14 after the first quarter and 42-19 at the half after a 17-5 run in the second quarter. Senior forward Marlie Townley led with 18 points for the Tigers. Maddie Anglin and Mariah Benson each scored 10 points and Kirklyn Porter and Sophia D’Oliveira each scored nine points.
In Class AAAAAA, the No. 4-ranked Dacula girls defeated Lanier 45-42 to move to 15-2 and 3-0 on the season. Nyla Moore, a senior point guard, led with 19 points and seven steals. Sophomore shooting forward Lazaria Spearman scored 12 points with 18 rebounds and five blocks. Zuriyah Davis scored 18 points with four assists to lead the Longhorns.
The Sequoyah girls moved to 11-5 and 7-2 in 6-AAAAAA after a 61-55 victory over Creekview. Freshman guard Elle Blatchford finished with 15 points for Sequoyah and Julia Craft scored 21 points to lead Creekview.
