Aquinas star edge rusher Jaden Wuerth transferring out of state

Aquinas star edge rusher Jaden Wuerth has announced he will be transferring out of the Fighting Irish program, heading out of state to Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, South Carolina.

Wuerth, a member of the Class of 2027, has been dominant in his first two seasons of high school football, amassing 286 tackles, 27 sacks, and 74 tackles for loss. His 13 sacks in 2023 were good enough for 13th most in the state, and his 14 in 2024 ranked 11th. In his freshman season, he was named First Team All-State in Class 2A by the AJC, and last season, he earned All-State Honorable Mention in Class A-3A Private.

During those seasons, the Fighting Irish amassed a 17-8 record while winning three playoff games and a region title, the team’s first since 2017. Those 17 wins are tied for the most in any two-season stretch since 2014–2015.

Earlier this week, Wuerth announced via his X account:

“Due to family circumstances I will be moving to Irmo, SC. Thank you Coach Leonard, Coach Beale, and everyone at Aquinas for a special 2 years. The time at Aquinas prepared me for my next stop at Dutch Fork to play for Coach Knotts.”

Dutch Fork is a powerhouse in South Carolina, finishing each of the last three seasons as the top-ranked team in the state according to MaxPreps. In addition, the Silver Foxes have won 21-straight games and captured seven championships in the past eight years. Over that span, they’ve developed notable NFL players such as former Biletnikoff winner and current New York Giant Jalin Hyatt, as well as Bills kicker Tyler Bass.

The Silver Foxes currently boast several high-end prospects, including 4-star edge rusher Julian Walker. Together, he and Wuerth will form a duo that most offensive lines will struggle to contain, setting Dutch Fork up for a fourth-straight title.
