ANOTHER MILESTONE: UGA women’s coach Landers picks up 800th win

Georgia’s women’s basketball team picked up a dominating 74-28 victory over Savannah State Thursday night, giving head coach Andy Landers his 800th career win.

Only four other NCAA women’s coaches have hit the 800 mark: Tennessee’s Pat Summitt, recently retired Jody Conradt of Texas, Rutgers’ C. Vivian Stringer, and North Carolina’s Sylvia Hatchell (who did it last Sunday in an overtime win against NC State).

Landers, an inductee of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, improved his career record to 800-252 with the win. Eighty-two of those wins came at Roane State Community College, and the rest have come since taking over at Georgia in 1979.

Georgia’s Angel Robinson led all scorers with 18 points.
