Allatoona accomplishes remarkable feat against Southeast Whitfield

The Allatoona Buccaneers baseball team accomplished a remarkable feat a week ago, throwing a no-hitter in three consecutive games during its series against the Southeast Whitfield Raiders.

Allatoona defeated Southeast Whitfield 17-2 before a double-header that saw the Raiders come out on top 19-0 and 15-0 in consecutive games.

The three wins that Allatoona earned last week added to the teams win-streak, which currently sits at seven games including series wins over Cedartown and Cartersville.

Allatoona run-ruled the Raiders as the game was stopped short after the first three innings with a final score of 17-2. The Buccaneers scored six runs in the first inning, another run in the second, followed by a 10-run third inning as the Allatoona bats were on fire in their first game of the series.

The Buccaneers recorded 10 hits while on the other end, Southeast Whitfield recorded six errors in just three innings.

Eight different Buccaneers recorded a hit in the first game of the series including a home run from senior Anthony Planeta and a pair of triples from seniors Ben Harrison and Cruz Paul.

On the mound for Allatoona, senior Cooper Underwood struck out eight Raiders at the plate on the Buccaneers way to a dominant day against Southeast Whitfield.

The runs Southeast Whitfield scored in the first game were the only ones of the series for the Raiders as more of the same continued in the doubleheader of games two and three.

In game two, the Buccaneers took home a 19-0 victory after the game was stopped short due to a run-rule in the fourth inning.

Junior pitcher Cohen Bohannon and freshman pitcher Lucas Chandler combined for 10 strikeouts on the mound for Allatoona as Bohnannon appeared in three innings and Chandler in just one.

The bats stayed hot for Allatoona in game two of the series as four players recorded two or more hits as well as three players hitting home runs such as Planeta, senior Jack Reynolds, and sophomore Parker Hope.

In total, Allatoona recorded 13 hits on their way to another convincing victory.

In the final game of the series, the Buccaneers recorded double-digit runs for the third game in a row with a 15-0 victory over the Raiders. Like the previous two games, this one was also stopped in a run rule in the fourth inning as Allatoona scored 12 runs in the first two innings followed by three more in the fourth to force the game to end.

The Buccaneers recorded double-digits hits for the third consecutive game as the 13 hits resulted in 15 runs on the board for Allatoona.

Seniors Reynolds and Harrison as well as sophomore Parker Hope each recorded two hits on the day for Allatoona including three RBIs from Harrison and two from Hope.

In the final game of the series, 10 different players for Allatoona recorded a hit at the plate as the offense remained hot throughout the series.

Following its series against Southeast Whitefield, the Allatoona Buccaneers will face Dalton in a three-game series followed by a series against Cass in the beginning of April.

The first game of the Dalton series will take place at 5:30 p.m. tonight at Buccaneer Baseball Field as Allatoona will look to replicate the success that they have had in the last three games.
