Alana Ferguson leads Social Circle in quest for the Class A-DI championship

The top team in the Class A-Division I girls’ rankings, Social Circle, has continued its dominance into the 2025 season and senior Alana Ferguson is a big piece of the puzzle. Ferguson is the team’s leading scorer, having scored 37 goals through 11 games. Her last five games have been massive, she has scored 22 goals in that span, including at least five in three of those games. In addition to her scoring, she has created plenty of opportunities, accumulating 14 assists, more than one assist per game, which is good enough for second on the team.

In Region 4 play, the Redskins have been dominant. In seven games, they have gone 7-0 while allowing only one goal. The team is an offensive power and have scored 60 goals, giving them a plus 59 goal differential. Another major part of that success is junior goalkeeper Gentrie Mobley. She has been the team’s starting goalkeeper in all 11 games, helping them to 10 wins. She has played a key role in Social Circle’s seven region victories; however, she hasn’t been tested too often, making only 36 saves so far this season. Another key contributor is senior Faith Young, the team’s second-leading scorer with nine goals on the season. However, she truly shines when setting up her teammates, having recorded 18 assists, the most on the team. She is also one of the national leaders in assists. According to MaxPreps, she is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation in assists — eight behind the national leader according to MaxPreps.

The Redskins have only three matches left in region play, with the most important being a matchup against Lamar that will decide the region title. In their previous meeting, Social Circle won just 3-0, their closest region match so far.
