A strong second half powers runaway Wildcat victory

After flying under the radar last season, the football team is a secret no more. A 51-21 win at Oconee County advanced the ‘Cats’ record to 2-0. Dunwoody let the Warriors hang around in the first half, leading 23-14 at the break. But whatever James Teter said to his team at the break worked. After forcing Oconee into a three-and-out, the Wildcats drove straight down the field and took a 31-14 lead on a 3-yard run from Treavor Scales. The onslaught continued, as Dunwoody scored two more touchdowns in the quarter, heading into the fourth with a comfortable 45-14 lead. Quarterback Erick Cooper played well for the Wildcats, going 6-for-9 for 149 yards and two touchdowns, both going to Andy Mills. The defense was stout as well, holding UGA commit Zach Mettenberger to 13-for-34 passing while forcing two turnovers. … The boys cross country team finished third in the A/2A/3A classification at the Clara Bowl Invitational. James Dwyer and Alex Ausley paced the ‘Cats by finishing 14th and 15th overall, with times of 17:40. The girls team finished 10th overall.
