The All-Region Teams were announced for all of Class A Division II. In Region 2, Clinch County quarterback and defensive back Aaron Bryant was named Player of the Year. On the hardwood, the top boys prospects are guards CJ Battle (McIntosh County Academy), Miller McGowan (Atlanta Classical), Jordan Coney (Treutlen) and Maki Joyner (Savannah). Savannah senior Deshawn Davis is a 6-foot-9 senior that has starred for the Atlanta Celtics. Davis is one of the top big-men in the entire state and is the reigning Region 3-A Div. I Defensive Player of the Year last year as a junior, while also averaging 12.2 ppg.
Warren County has sophomore Torossie Leslie and senior Cosa Pender at the guard position and McIntosh County has a dangerous combo with Battle at the guard position and senior MJ Quarterman as a power forward that can lead the paint. Another Class of 2027 prospect to watch is Hancock Central sophomore guard Josiah Ingram.
On the girls side, Mitchell County senior Sariyah Chester, Early County’s Jacorra Russell, Clinch County’s Amariah Dean, Schley County’s Jamesen Hollomon and Wilcox County’s Tyliah Benjamin were all named first team all-state before the basketball season. Chester and Russell are both seniors, while Dean is a junior and Hollomon and Benjamin are still sophomores. Benjamin’s teammate Shamauri Martin is a sophomore guard that was also named second-team all-state in the preseason.
