In the state’s highest classification, East Coweta is still the team to beat in the latest poll. The Lady Indians are coming off a closely-contested duel with Columbus over eight innings before taking the 2-1 victory on Saturday.
In Class AAAAAA, top-ranked Creekview rebounded from its back-to-back losses with victories over Cambridge and South Cobb entering into its game against River Ridge on Thursday. Second-ranked Pope is coming off a 17-0 victory over Northview on Tuesday to climb from fifth this week.
Locust Grove is again on top in Class AAAAA with Carrollton in second. The Lady Wildcats got two victories over Stockbridge on Tuesday 15-0, 12-0 and will host Union Grove on Thursday. Carrollton won 4-3 over Hiram on Tuesday and will face East Paulding on Thursday.
Top-ranked Northside is coming off a 2-1 victory over Cairo on Tuesday as it heads into its game against Westover on Thursday. Marist climbed to second this week with Stephens County, Madison County and St. Pius X filling the top-5.
Sonoraville overtook Calhoun as the top team in the Class after beating the Yellow Jackets on Aug. 13. (1-0). Since the loss, Calhoun has not lost a game and will face Sonoraville again on Aug. 30.
In Class A-Public, top-ranked Rockmart has destroyed the competition. The Lady Yellow Jackets lead Class AA ahead of Harlem, Banks County, Monticello and Dodge County.
Top-ranked Wesleyan is rolling with its 11-0 victory over Landmark Christian on Wednesday. No. 2 Tattnall Square held off No. 3 Mt. de Sales 6-5 on Tuesday in eight innings. Prince Avenue and Stratford round out the top-5.
