Langston Hughes has landed yet another high-end transfer, adding 5-star 2027 offensive lineman Kelsey Adams to a team that fell just one game shy of a state title last season.
Adams is ranked as the top offensive tackle in the Class of 2027, according to On3. He spent his first two years of high school playing for North Clayton, where he was named to the first-team All-Region last season.
On the recruiting trail, Adams has nearly every offer he could want, including one from Georgia, which he received on Thursday. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 285 pounds, he is the prototypical offensive lineman.
He is joining a Panthers program known for developing offensive linemen. In the past three years, they have graduated three 4-star offensive linemen, including Bo Hughley, who is entering his third season at UGA, as well as Dontrell Glover and Travaris Dice, who are set to begin their college careers at UGA and Florida, respectively.
Adams joins a loaded Hughes roster featuring multiple high-end Power 4 recruits, most notably 4-star tight end Xavier Tiller and 4-star running back Carsyn Baker. Earlier this week, 3-star quarterback Darnell Kelly also announced he was transferring back to Hughes, where he played his freshman season, after spending the past two years at Peachtree Ridge.
The Panthers have been one of the top programs in the state over the past half-decade, making three finals appearances, including a record-breaking 2022 season in which Hughes set the single-season scoring record. This coming season will bring a major change, as longtime head coach Daniel Williams has departed, with former offensive coordinator Andrico Hines stepping in as the new head coach after two seasons as the head coach of Berkmar.
