Calvary Day’s 4-star wide receiver, Thomas Blackshear, has made his college decision. Chosing to spend his collegiate career at the University of Georgia and play for coach Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
Blackshear is coming off a season with the Cavaliers where he accumulated 551 receiving yards with five touchdowns as a junior in 2023, helping lead Calvary Day to the semifinals as a major part of an offense that averaged 48.8 points per game with an average margin of victory of 38.8 PPG.
“The coaches, going down there, getting to know the coaches more when I visited and watching them practice,” Blackshear told 247Sports. ”Talking to Coach Coley and Coach Kirby, that’s when I made the decision.”
Blackshear is the first wide receiver to commit to the Bulldogs’ 2025 class. He is the ninth commit in the class, which is currently ranked 12th in the nation. He is joining a Bulldogs team that has gone 42-2 over the past three seasons. During Smart’s tenure with UGA, the Dawgs have had seven wide receivers drafted, three which were drafted in the first two days of the draft including Superbowl LVIII hero Mecole Hardman and Steelers star receiver George Pickens.
Along with those seven, 2024 second-round draft pick Adonai Mitchell spent two seasons in Athens, catching 38 passes for 560 yards and seven touchdowns before transferring to Texas for the 2023 season.
