One of the best players in the 2026 class has narrowed his choices down to 10 schools after announcing his top schools via Joe Tipton of On3. Jalan Wingfield’s top 10 include Auburn, Cincinnati, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and Mississippi State.
It was a busy summer for Wingfield as he started to see more college offers with programs taking interest in him. In the month of June alone, he picked up three offers from Virginia Tech, Alabama, and Mississippi State.
According to 247Sports Composite, Wingfield is rated as the No. 8 player in Georgia, No. 18 PF, and the No. 92 player nationally. The 6’8, 225-pound forward is one of the best players in the country. He is versatile for his size and can impact the game in a multitude of ways.
Taking a look at the latest in his recruiting, he picked up an offer from Ole Miss on January 13th and took an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech back in October. On the hardwood, Wingfield is the second-leading scorer for his team, averaging 14.5 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He also has been a terror on the defensive side of the ball, averaging two blocks per game. His efficiently has been on display all season, knocking down 49% of his shots from the field.
Wingfield has crossed double-figures in 11 of the past 12 games played. One of his best games came recently in a win over Dunwoody where he finished with a double-double, scoring 17 points with 14 rebounds, four blocks, and three steals. He has four games this season where he has finished with a double-double.
I got the chance to see him in person at the Battle in the Peach when he went against 5-star Caleb Wilson, finishing with 12 points and four rebounds in a 73-43 loss to Holy Innocents’. Yes, the loss was lopsided, but I enjoyed seeing Wingfield take the challenge and personally guard Wilson on defense. He also put the ball on the floor and attacked him throughout the night. Sometimes you will see some star players shy away or play within the system when going against superior talent but that was not the case that night.
Without a doubt, Wingfield is one of the reasons that Tri-Cities is a contender in 5A this season. Tri-Cities is currently ranked as the No. 3 team in the Score Atlanta poll for Class 5A and has a good chance to challenge some of the top contenders come playoff time.
