Xavier Tiller, a 4-star tight end from Langston Hughes, decommitted from Texas A&M University after attending the Under Armour Atlanta regional this past weekend. Surprising is a bit of an understatement when explaining how Texas A&M’s coaching staff and fans felt following this announcement.
Tiller had announced his commitment to the Aggies in November. On Sunday, the last day of the camp, Tiller spoke highly of Texas A&M to 247Sports, calling them “family” and saying, “It’s all about the connection with them.” He even started making plans to attend their spring practices, saying, “I think they want me to come the first weekend of official visits.” Just two days later, he decommitted.
The Langston Hughes star continues to be highly coveted. As a top-10 TE, according to 247Sports, there’s sure to be no shortage of suitors for the 6’4”, 225 pound receiving threat. Tiller currently holds 29 offers, which include schools like Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, and Alabama. He took visits to Florida State and Auburn in January and ended the month visiting the Aggies.
Don’t count out Texas A&M just yet. They only have one TE on their roster as of now and one commitment in the 2026 class with Caleb Tafua from California. It’ll be interesting to see where Tiller ends up visiting this spring and how that shapes his recruiting cycle.
