Wildcat breaks long-time school record

In last Friday’s meet against Baylor (Tenn.), Westminster junior Derek Cox broke the oldest school swimming record set in 1979 by Alan Joel (46.72) in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.66.

Freshman Haley Arner takes over another Collins Hill record

Last weekend, Collins Hill freshman Haley Arner broke her second school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.83. Back in November, she captured the record in the 100-backstroke held by Marin Morrison previously. In addition, she also placed first in the 200-yard individual medley helping her team finish with 273 points to sweep both Duluth (234) and Mountain View (134). Collins Hill’s boys also dominated the tri-meet with 295 points. Both teams improved to 9-0 on the season and with a victory against Dacula Friday, the program will have their first undefeated season since 2010-2011.

Dacula tops Lanier, Berkmar

Falcon’s swimming and diving team finished first against Lanier and Berkmar. Dacula girls won with 198 points, Lanier second (180) and Berkmar placed third (103). Dacula’s boys won with 210 points, Berkmar finished second (181) and Lanier third (137). Dacula took victories from Tyler Stevens in the 200-yard freestyle, Bradley Dunham in the 200 IM, Faith Wilson in diving, Paul Dittamo in the 100-yard butterfly, Kenny Dove in the 100-yard breaststroke and Hannah Jaeger in the 100-yard breaststoke.

Longhorn’s first-place finishers were Lilah Davis in the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Katie Spathelf in the 200 IM, Jake Ojeda in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, Ashley Cesario in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, Anthony Albanese in diving and Teya Nicholls in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Patriots took first in the 100-yard butterfly, 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke from Claudia Leonel, Tony Perez and Christopher Nguyen respectively.

Wesleyan sweeps rival Greater Atlanta Christian

The Lady Wolves won a close meet 225-187 and the boys dominated 203-109. Wesleyan had first place finishes from Ellie Bradach in the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle, Ben Buckley in the 200 IM, Gabby Hernandez in the 200 IM, Abby Gardner in the 50-yard freestyle and diving, Will Sharon in diving, Luke Hedrick in the 100-yard butterfly, Anna Roy in the 100-yard butterfly, Nicole Fasciana in the 500-yard freestyle, Rachel Adams in the 100-yard backstroke, William Lee in the 100-yard breaststroke and Allison Loach in the 100-yard breastroke. GAC’s first-place finishers were Hunter Dye in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, Dylan Kearney in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke and Landon Keller in the 100-yard freestyle.
