With the conclusion of the 2024 football season, the Class of 2028’s freshman campaigns are officially in the books. This group already boasts high-end players who have made significant impacts on their teams and are quickly catching the attention of college recruiters.
Quarterbacks
Trace Hawkins – Calhoun
Hawkins is the fastest-rising freshman in the state. After taking over a struggling Yellow Jackets team midway through the season, he led them to a state championship. He recently received his first offer from Auburn, the first of many to come.
Bode Spence – East Paulding
Spence spent his first season of high school football as a backup for East Paulding but still saw significant playing time. He threw for 578 yards and seven touchdowns, completing 67% of his passes. His recruitment is already off to a strong start, with three FBS offers, including one from Georgia State.
Running Backs
Zachary Belyeu – North Cobb
Belyeu is the prototypical running back, and coaches around the country are already taking notice. During a strong freshman season, he rushed for 1,107 yards and 15 touchdowns. At 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, Belyeu is already physically developed and is regarded as a high-end prospect. He has already received offers from Auburn, USF, and App State.
Wide Receivers
Seven Rashad – Mountain View
Rashad is a physically imposing wide receiver who has shown glimpses of his potential. Standing at 6-foot-4 and 175 pounds, he is part of the growing trend of tall, athletic receivers in the state. As a freshman, he caught 29 passes for 517 yards and four touchdowns. He has already received his first offer from Arkansas State, with more likely to follow.
Tight Ends
Xevien Brinson – Arabia Mountain
Brinson is poised to be the next elite tight end from Georgia. At 6-6 and 220 pounds, he continues the trend of exceptional tight end talent in the state. He had a stellar freshman season, catching 35 passes for 534 yards and five touchdowns. On the recruiting front, he has already received major offers from Georgia Tech and Tennessee.
Offensive Linemen
Robert Brown – Savannah Christian
Brown has emerged as one of the top interior offensive linemen in the Class of 2028. The 6-foot-3, 265-pound lineman demonstrates polish and technique that are rare for freshmen. This is why he has already received Power Four offers from FSU and Arkansas.
Hunter Hill – Peach County
Hill, like Brown, is a standout interior offensive lineman. He excels in run blocking, using his size and strength to dominate in the trenches. He also displays a high football IQ and will to continue to improving. Hill has multiple Power Four offers, including one from Georgia.
Defensive Linemen
Dawson Jacobs – Blessed Trinity
Jacobs is already a starting lineman for 4A powerhouse Blessed Trinity. As a freshman, he totaled 53 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and five sacks. With a combination of length, strength, and speed, Jacobs has the tools to excel at the Power Four level. He has received offers from Tennessee and West Virginia.
Fred Moses – Hebron Christian
Moses is an under-the-radar talent who had a strong freshman season for the Class A-3A private state champions. He recorded 48 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and five sacks. Moses is effective against both the run and the pass and is expected to rise on recruiters’ big boards in the coming seasons.
Linebackers
Ryland Garrison – Flowery Branch
Garrison is another under-the-radar prospect who had an impressive freshman season. He totaled 97 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback pressures, and three sacks. With excellent instincts and the ability to quickly read plays, Garrison will be a player to watch as his recruiting stock rises.
Defensive Backs
Giovanni Tuggle – Winder-Barrow
Tuggle is an elite safety prospect with a rare combination of size and athleticism. At 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, he pairs his physicality with exceptional speed and instincts in the secondary. He finished his freshman season with 39 tackles and six interceptions. Tuggle has already received offers from six Power Four universities.
