Justin Murphy continues to impress and put up elite numbers at one of the top camps in the country this past weekend at Gainesville High School. The Elite 11 is the premier quarterback camp in the country, where all the top quarterbacks go to in the country to compete. Murphy had the top peak speed of the entire camp, posting 21.86 MPH. He also ranked third in peak power (W/KG) with an 88.3 score on his throws, showcasing his true arm power.
So when you break down these numbers, you see an elite athlete and quarterback. His speed of nearly 22 MPG allows him to separate himself from opposing defensive linemen and linebackers in designed quarterback runs or improvising and extending plays. His peak power is shown by his ability to throw the long ball. The way he can effortlessly hit his receiver in stride or throw his receiver open.
Saturday was just a glimpse into how good Murphy could potentially be, especially moving forward in his career at North Clayton and beyond. He is just scratching the surface of the type of prospect he can become.
He is already on the national radar, being named a four-star prospect by Rivals and On3. He is ranked as the highest on On3, rated as the No. 4 ATH, the No. 10 player in Georgia, and the No. 85 prospect nationally. Murphy has offers from UMASS, Kentucky, Tennessee, UCF, Georgia State, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Charlotte, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, South Carolina, and LSU. At LSU, he is being recruited as a defensive back for the Tigers. He’s already up to double-digit offers and continues to generate buzz around his name from noteworthy colleges.
This weekend, he is set to compete at the Under Armour Camp in Charlotte, which will have a lot of notable athletes from Georgia in attendance. UA camp is another major camp that hosts some of the best in the country. This past season with North Clayton, he led the Eagles to a 4-6 record. He was named first-team all-region for Region 5-3A this past season. With his junior season coming up, Murphy is already making strides. He recently hit 415 pounds squatting at three reps this offseason, and it’s not even his max. Murphy is getting stronger and continuing to improve as a prospect.
He certainly has the talent to play quarterback at the next level and the offers speak to that, but he could also be special at the defensive back spot in college. Murphy is the true definition of a versatile athlete who can line up anywhere and make an impact. That is what makes him a high school star and a player who can impact the game in a myriad of ways.
