In Class AAAAAA, No. 1 McEachern clinched a three-peat with a 71-51 win over Tucker in the championship Saturday in Macon. Southwest DeKalb returned to the podium in Class AAAAA with a 49-48 win over No. 2 Winder-Barrow. The win shelved the Panthers their first state title since 2013 and the program’s fifth since their first state crown came in 2008. In Class AAAA, Americus-Sumter dominated Veterans 58-36 to take home the title and top spot in the poll. Morgan County ended Jackson Atlanta’s praiseworthy run to the championship with a 68-61 victory to take the top spot.
In Class AA, Holy Innocents’ beat No. 2 Wesleyan for the sixth time in two seasons and clinched their first state title with a 66-64 overtime thriller. Wire-to-wire No. 1 St. Francis was no match for Greenforest in the A-Private final and crushed the Eagles with a 63-37 victory. In Class A-Public, Turner County finished No. 1 after clinching a perfect season and program’s first state title with a 55-38 victory over Terrell County.
