GHSA SEMIFINALS NORCROSS WILL HOST GRAYSON FRIDAY
Score Atlanta is televising the first four weeks of the GHSA football playoffs on PeachtreeTV and this week’s semifinals round game will feature the biggest game of the high school season – Grayson at Norcross. Grayson has been the No. 1 team in the state at Class 7A for most of the season and is ranked No. 4 nationally. Norcross was ranked third in the state when the regular season ended but beat No. 2 Colquitt County in Friday’s quarterfinals and moved all the way No. 16 nationally. Both teams are undefeated and the Rams are led by transfer quarterback Jake Garcia, who is one of the top ranked senior QB’s in the country. The Blue Devils have a strong running game while senior quarterback Mason Kaplan has had a strong season and thrown for 27 touchdowns and rushed for five scores. The two teams have played six times, each winning three. Last week in the quarterfinals on PeachtreeTV, 5-Star quarterback Brock Vandagriff led Prince Avenue Christian to a 38-0 win over Eagles Landing Christian Academy, a team that had come into the game winning five straight Class A titles. Georgia Public Broadcasting will also be televising a game (Valdosta at Buford) this week and has had the first choice when choosing a matchup. Score’s weekly game was announced on this page each Sunday and the first two rounds had two straight one-point games which ended with the losing team missing a short field goal as Roswell beat Mill Creek 28-27 and West Forsyth slipped by North Gwinnett 17-16. The Friday night games, which go through the semifinals, will begin at 8 p.m. and Rusty Mansell of 247Sports and Paul Crane will handle the play-by-play and analyst duties with former Brookwood coach and athletics director Dave Hunter and halftime and postgame host Ashley Rose on the field set. Also, Kaylee Mansell hands out Georgia Elite Classic invites during halftime. Through Zoom, senior high school writer Craig Sager II will handle statewide playoff updates back at the Score Atlanta studios.
