Grey Knights shut out Angoras, host Towers Friday

The football team improved to 2-0 on the gridiron after an 8-0 shutout win over the Clarkston Angoras (0-2). The shutout of Clarkston was Grady’s first since they blanked Druid Hills 43-0 back in November of 2006.

It was also the first Region 5B-AAA game for the Grey Knights, after they opened against Region 4-AAA Jackson. Grady is in subdivision B of Region 5, while Clarkston is in subdivision A. The Grey Knights are looking to make the playoffs this season, as their streak of five consecutive trips to the postseason ended a year ago. Grady will play the Towers Titans (0-1) at home on Friday night. Towers is in Region 5A-AAA. … The softball team lost to Carver 13-3 on Thursday. The Grey Knights will play three games within the next week: Jackson-Atlanta on Wednesday, North Atlanta on Thursday, and Therrell on Tuesday. … Both the girls and boys cross country teams will compete in the Altitude Running Invitational on the Mercer University Course in Atlanta on Saturday. The meet is hosted by St. Pius X.
