Missed PAT leaves Raiders with opening-game tie

Redan nearly pulled off a come-from-behind victory over Miller Grove in their football season opener last Saturday at Hallford Stadium. The Raiders and Wolverines tied 12-12. Redan quarterback Akil Dan-Fadio led his team down the field in the final minutes with the Raiders trailing 12-6. After a pass-interference call put Redan deep in Wolverine territory, the sophomore signal caller called his own number and tied the game on a quarterback sneak. The Raiders missed the extra point, however, and the two teams finished tied. Redan will next face McNair on Friday at Hallford Stadium. … The volleyball team went into the Labor Day Holiday with a 5-1 record. The Raiders return eight seniors, three of whom were starters a year ago. Redan’s key players this year are senior hitter Delia Brunson, junior hitter Nia Evans, senior hitter/defensive specialist Faith Adams, senior setter Sariah Williams, senior setter Levada Harris, and senior setter/hitter Melinda Wright. After visiting Mays this past Tuesday, the Raiders will next host Warner Robins and Northside-Warner Robins on Saturday. The action begins at 10 a.m.
