The football team faced a talented Camden County squad in the Kell Powerade Classic. The Blue Devils, led by D.J. Adams, Prince Kent and Charles King, managed only six points, as Norcross lost 21-6. Matt Autry, a two-way standout at wide receiver and defensive end, contributed with some nice catches. Last Friday, Adams led the Blue Devils with 112 yards rushing and two touchdowns against South Gwinnett. King scored the game-winning touchdown late to seal the 24-17 win. The defense came up with two big interceptions to set up the comeback victory. … The volleyball team opened the season 1-2 with two tough losses to Lassiter and Brookwood, but rebounded to spike Duluth (25-8, 25-6). Tiffany Clarke was the star with 22 kills, nine aces and seven blocks. … The softball team improved to 2-5 with a 9-0 pasting of Duluth thanks to Aleandra Foulke’s eight strikeouts and 3-for-4 outing at the plate. … The boys cross country team will have three seniors leading a talented junior class, as Joshua Indech, Jed Chapin and Matthew Howard all prepare for their final season as Blue Devil runners.
