After picking up the big win over Brookwood two weeks ago in the Kell Classic at the Georgia Dome, the football team had the week off last week. They needed the break, as two players are nursing injuries. Quarterback Ray Rayburn and running back Andre Walkine suffered knee injuries and are listed as day-to-day. The Raiders will start region play this Friday when they take on Kell at Raider Valley. … The softball team struggled last week, as the Raiders suffered losses to North Cobb, Roswell and Pope. In the game against the Lady Warriors, Kalie Hastings had two hits and scored a run, but it wasn’t enough as they lost 3-1. Against the Lady Hornets, the Lady Raiders could not get anything going offensively and were shut out 3-0. In the final game of the week against Pope, the Lady Raiders struck first with two early runs, but the Lady Greyhounds fought back late in the game and won 4-2. They will be at Milton on Thursday. … The volleyball team is off to a great start with a 10-1 record. Walton will take part in the Georgia Challenge Tournament on Saturday.
