Holt’s 133 yards, two TDs not enough to get past Trojans

After having one of the most successful seasons in the school’s history in 2007, the football team looked to get off on the right foot against their archrival Lassiter. The Yellow Jackets hung in there for as long as they could, trailing by only seven points early in the second quarter. Lassiter’s new offense, however, was clicking on all cylinders and was able to sting the Jackets by a 42-28 score. Despite the loss, quarterback Forrest Holt had a strong game, leading all rushers with 133 yards and two touchdowns. The Yellow Jackets committed 10 penalties and could not contain the “pass-happy” offense the Trojans debuted on Friday. They will host their first game of the season against Dalton on Friday. … The volleyball team is on a roll as of late, the Jackets have won their last three matches. The teams they have defeated are Harrison, Woodstock and Centennial, all of whom belong to Class 5A. Sprayberry just moved down to Class 4A this year but, regardless, those are still big wins. They will look to continue their winning ways as they take on Wheeler and Campbell on Thursday.
