Falcons glide to victory over Cardinals in opener

The football team was looking to get its season off on the right foot with new head coach Randall Smith, and the Falcons knew that they had a challenge ahead of them on Friday as they took on archrival Osborne. The Falcons got the scoring started early with a Michael Peeples 3-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter. They were able to get two more touchdowns in the second quarter thanks to an Erin Appleby 18-yard run and a Kentavious 47-yard pass to Justin Avery. The Falcons went on to win 34-7 for their 24th win over the Cardinals. Smith wants to duplicate the success that Michael Collins brought the last two years – and he is off to a great start. Pebblebrook will face Creekside on Friday at 7:30 p.m. … The volleyball team played against Lithia Springs on Thursday but was unsuccessful, as the Lady Falcons fell 2-0. They will try to get on the winning track on Thursday when they go up against Whitefield Academy. … The slow-pitch softball team will face off against Harrison on Wednesday.
